13. Air-Condition and Refrigeration

Application of evaporative cooling in water curtain

In the context of global climate change and energy crisis, the energy consumption and environmental pollution of conventional air conditioner have become significant problems. This research designs a “water curtain system” that can reduce surrounding temperature in an energy saving way. Instead of room-temperature water, this system uses underground cold spring water to reach the dew point temperature that can also include dehumidification function. Even if the temperature doesn’t reach the dew point of air in some situation, this system can still effectively reduce temperature, prevent solar radiation and cause particulate matters to settle when the humidity is increasing due to evaporation process. This research corresponding with multiple United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), such as SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), by reducing the energy consumption of air conditioning and achieving energy conservation. And it also aligns with SDG 13 (Climate Action) by reducing greenhouse gas emissions to address climate change.
