04. Boiling and Multi-Phase Flow
Mesoscopic Study of Bubble Nucleation on a Boiling Surface based on the Lattice Boltzmann Method
A mesoscopic numerical simulation study of pool boiling on flat surface was conducted based on the Lattice Boltzmann Method. The numerical simulation framework was based on the open-source OpenLB numerical simulation platform with a thermal multiphase flow extension. This framework can describe basic heated surface parameters including wettability, roughness, and temperature. Verification of the numerical simulation method using Maxwell construction was completed, and the influence of surface roughness on fluid wettability was studied. Typical bubble nucleation processes of pool boiling were obtained. The correlation between surface wettability and both surface roughness and surface density was determined. The results captured how the bubble count varied in relation to surface temperature and surface density.
